Second Annnual Session - THIMUN-Singapore

Education

The Second Annual Session will focus on "Education" which will be the theme of the Second Annual Session Conference in 2006.

The six committees of the General Assembly, the Security Council and the ECOSOC will, of course, also be in session during the week, each forum under the control of Student Officers from many different schools and nationalities and headed by Secretary General.

We look forward to welcoming all of you to the Second Annual Session of THIMUN-Singapore.

Issues on the Agenda

Please note that some of the issues on the agenda for THIMUN-Singapore 2006 have been altered.

GA 2:

CURRENT

Implementation of the first UN Decade for the Eradication of Poverty.

NEW

Preventing and combating corrupt practices involving transfer of funds of illicit origin and returning such assets to the countries of origin.

ECOSOC:

CURRENT

In the "Issues on Education" section, issue #2 was merged with issue #4, due to similarities.

ISSUE #2: Developing more inclusive education systems which will aim to address the learning needs of all children, youth and adults with a specific focus on those who are vulnerable to marginalization and exclusion.

ISSUE #4: Improving all aspects of the quality of education and ensuring excellence of all so that recognized and measurable learning outcomes are achieved by all, especially in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills.

NEW

In the "Other Issues" section, #4 and #2 were consolidated as they broach the same subject from slightly different angles.

ISSUE #2: Comprehensive implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action

ISSUE #4: Review and coordination of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the Decade 2001-2010.

NEW

Review and implementation of the Durban Declaration and the Programme of Action, especially with regards to the Least Developed Countries for the Decade of 2001-2010.
